STRATFORD STORMERS STOCKCAR TEAM

Latest Update
Due to the time of year the team that had showed interest in racing the stormers at home on the 17th have had to withdraw with this now looking to like happening in the new year. This will renew an old home and away challenge that hasn't been run for some years. Attention now turns to the New Zealand teams champs to be held in January. With the team for this event due to be named in the next week or so it will be interesting to see if the selectors make any changes with at least 3 cars that have been running at home under consideration plus the 6 that have already teams raced this year. As soon as team is named it will be posted on here. Thanks again for surport as we try to develop a winning combination.

Palmerston North Teams Invasion Update
Palmy teams invasion has been and gone with the Stormers getting a tough draw against the steelers and pumas. Race 1 against the steelers things were running semi to plan although 2 steelers cars had got away to a big lead in turn 1 they were slowly been pulled in by our run cars and with the 2nd place palmy car blocked it moved 408 into 2nd (thats right kellsie again doing the running) and 404 i...nto 3rd as the laps run out the block cars were unable to take out the lead steeler car and the steelers had taken the win. Back in the pits it was discovered that the 409 car had taken some damage and would be sitting out the next race (2 broken chassis runners) A plan was hatched to have some fun against the pumas and see what happened this was not the best plan in the world with the pumas taking 1st and 2nd with 405 home in 3rd (3 tanks painted the same for the pumas are hard to tell apart) So some more lessons learnt but the feeling in the group seemed to be pretty happy. Next up there is a teams race in the pipe line for at home on the 17th just waiting to confirm as soon as it is it will be posted on here. So thanks to surporters and crews and drivers.

Huntly Update
Well the huntly teams meeting is done with two wins and two loses coming from the weekend the two loses were at the hands of auckland who went on to win the whole thing and hawkes bay which was a norrow loss with the 404 car leading all the way until being taken to the wall having just received the white flag. The two wins against Rotrua and Gisbourne were both good races with everyone showing a ...sign of what they can do and kellsie even leading a race. As for the week ahead we now have the Palmerston teams invasion. In the team itself there is two cars with side rail damage one needing front end work and two that pretty much just need a check over before this meeting. A big thanks goes out to Helen and Darren for the use of there workshop and help finding parts Red and the huntly club for the job they do running this meeting. lastly a thanks to all the crews and familys who helped out over the weekend preping car repairing damage and keeping everyone feed.
palmy update

Update 10/11/11
As most are aware an initial squad of 9 was selected to take us through to the palmy teams invasion. The selectors now have had a chance to look at how people are going and with 2 people pulling out there is a good chance a new face or 2 could be joining the group. So if you had your name down on list and have been out turning laps don't be surprised if John or Fraser come and have a chat to you. As the team now look forward to the huntly meeting if there was anyone intersted in coming up and crewing  for the weekend there could be some spare seats if this sounds like you let one of the guys know and will see what we could arrange. Also we hope to have someone updating the facebook page from huntly as the meeting goes so remember to keep an eye on that.

Stratford Stormers vs Kihikihi Crusaders

Well what can we say, a lot of season planning resulted in a first up loss to Kihikihi. A blown gearbox at the start of the warm-ups for the 406s car meant that 407s was added to the starting line up with 406s and 404s sitting out. The start of the race and it was lead away by the 25k car chased by the 408s and the 405s cars until these two were blocked by the 29k car and it was pretty much plain sailing for the 25k car although he was stopped a couple of times by the 407s finishing blow was never quite delivered and the race finished with 25k taking the flag from 409s who had got back on the lead lap but run out of laps. So for the first time the Stratford vs. Kihikihi stockcar team trophy moves north and awaits the result of the rematch to see where it resides for the winter. It is great to get this up and running again. The Stratford Stormers would like to congratulate Kihikihi and say thanks for coming down and will see you for a rematch. As for the Stormers its back to drawing board as we wait to see the selectors choices for the Huntly teams meeting.

With the start of the seeason only a matter of weeks away it is time to name the 2001/2012 Stratford Stormers Team.
Last season had many ups and downs for the team but at the end of it saw everyone come together as a team on the track and off the track with all familys and crews getting on like one big family - It was FANTASTIC.

So far in the off season a little bit of work has been done  to ensure new bodies for the sucsessfull team and sponsors have been contacted and things are underway.
The new bodys should be with Brokers Panel & Paint - Waitara just before the end of september for a new paint job then off to Zodiac Signs - Hawera for the signage.

Opening night on the 29th October will see a teams race at home for the Stormers Team against Kihikihi Crusaders.
So I Guess its time to name the team. Firstly Thank you to all those drivers who offered themselves and there machines to be apart of the team this season. The selectors had a hard task but have done what they see as best for the team and the club.
Congratulations to the following drivers, crews and familys.
Shane Kells (C) Haydin Barker, Justin Robinson, Andrew Dodunski, Sandy Flett, Damien Heistiend, Cody Webster, Mark Woods and Tony Zehender. This is the squad for the teams race on opening night at Stratford, The Huntly teams meeting and the Palmerston North Teams Invasion. Those that missed out still have a chance to impress for selection on normal race nights.

So remember 29th October - Opening Night at Stratford Speedway and Teams racing for the Stormers.
If anyone is interested in helping the team out with anything please contact myself or one of the guys in the team to register your interest and we will get a calander to you with teams racing dates on and jobs and things we need help with.

Until the 29th October keep in contact via the Stratford Speedway Website or via Stratford Stormers facebook page.
A big thank you goes to the club and committiee for there supports and to Jarrod MacBeth for the link on the website.

Until next time.
Keep the driving on the road and the racing on the track.

Helen Webster
