MinisprintsMinisprints have been racing in Taranaki for a few years but only joined the Speedway New Zealand track in Stratford for the 2011/12 season. They are an open wheel racing car with an automotive engine, the shape of a sprint car and the size of a midget. The cars weigh between 420 and 470 kilos and run a front mounted engine only in North South direction. Engines are 4 cylinder, inline, vertical stroke, water cooled, single camshaft. The maximum size of the engine is 1340cc and can only run a naturally aspirated carburettor. Fuel is methanol, avgas or petrol. The top end cars in this class are quick with the two wings assisting the cars around the corners and lap times can be close to the vastly more powerful midgets. The fstest lap time to date is 14.1283 seconds and was recorded on 11-01-13 by Sean Rice. Class Sponsor:
